Whether you're an expatriate or a resident, one thing you've got to get the hang of is to expect to be stunned by the scale of projects in Dubai. Of all the superlatives achieved by man, Dubai has held the top spot on many counts. The Meydan City Corporation will now build and develop the area along Al Khail road with a new mall, housing the longest indoor ski slope along with a large-scale leisure, residential and hospitality development.
The project, covering 3.67 million square metres, was launched on Monday by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
Located in the area between Meydan Hotel and Al Khail road, the project will feature the Meydan One Mall, the 711-metre tall Dubai One tower which is slated to be the tallest residential tower in the world; a civic plaza, a 4-kilometre canal and a marina with 100 berths.
As per a repost in gulfnews.com, the developers have issued a statement saying that the first phase of the project will be completed before 2020.
The Meydan One Mall will cover 25,000 square metres and feature a retractable roof, measuring 150 x 80 metres, which will open in the winter months; over 300 restaurants, cafes and kiosks; and luxury retailers. The world's longest indoor ski slope at 1.2 km will be just adjacent to the mall.
