Dubai Airport Announces First Ever Airport Resident DJ!
Music duo Hollaphonic

Trust Dubai to come up with something different each time. Now, when you step into the glamorous DXB airport, be prepared to be welcomed by great music and performances. In a step towards making a complete transformation of the airport customer experience, DXB has introduced the first ever DJ residence as part of the popular musicDXB platform. Launching this weekend, in partnership with music industry visionaries Olly Wood and Greg Stainer, Dubai will share its love of music with the 250,000 daily visitors in a regular monthly calendar of performances.

So what can you expect? The long-term partnership will see Stainer and Wood fully curate the musicDXB programme and work alongside DXB to bring it to life for travellers. Their industry knowledge and contacts will attract established performers and also use the stage as a platform to showcase up and coming talent. As a next step, the ambition is to appeal to headline artists passing through the global hub and encourage them to consider DXB as a new space to perform to a truly international audience. A concert at the airport? Why not!

The new roaming music DXB stage will present free monthly concerts for travellers, featuring an array of international and local artists, alongside Dubai’s favourite DJ duo Hollaphonic who will begin their residency this weekend with two, two-hour sets. This will be supported next weekend by Dubai-based house DJ Scott Forshaw and Mark Shakedown. After a break during Ramadan, the performances will be back and home-grown names like Stephon Lamar and international talent such as US artist Alex Syps will bring their energy during the airport’s busiest times.

Hollaphonic’s Olly Wood said; “From chilled ambient beach vibes to the summer anthem that still makes you a smile a decade later, music influences our mood and even more so when we travel. Right now, an average one in five people are walking around the airport with headphones on, listening to music that comforts and soothes, motivates and inspires and sparks joy. You get those same feelings while travelling, so partnering with DXB seemed as natural as Mariah hitting a high note.”

DJs will take to the decks from Thursday, 4 and Saturday, 6 April, then again next Thursday to Saturday. The stage will then be lit again for the busy Eid travel period continuing as a regular monthly activation.
