Dream Girl marks the directorial debut of Raaj Shaandilya and stars Nushrat Bharucha as the female lead alongside Annu Kapoor, Manjot Singh, Nidhi Bisht and Vijay Raaz in supporting roles.

In this comedy film, Ayushmann plays an unemployed man, Karam, who plays female characters on stage and eventually gets an opportunity to work for a hotline, where he needs to talk to his lonely male callers as Pooja, that is, in a female voice. This leads to a lot of chaos as several of his clients claim to have fallen in love with Pooja. This light-hearted film’s success is being attributed to Ayushmann’s stellar performance and witty dialogues, which manage to keep the audience engaged throughout the film. Dream Girl’s release coincided with the release of Akshaye Khanna and Richa Chadha’s Article 375, a courtroom drama which has received favourable reviews, but this has not affected the film’s business.
