Downton Abbey's Trailer Has Left Us Wanting More!
It seems that not much has changed at Downtown Abbey, since it closed its doors to us in December 2015
In the first trailer of the much anticipated Downton Abbey film, a spin-off of the hit TV series, we see the entire aristocratic Crawley family and their long line of domestic servants preparing to welcome the royals into their fictional Yorkshire country estate.
It’s exciting to see that most of the cast from the show has come together to be a part of the film, which includes Hugh Bonneville, Michelle Dockery, Maggie Smith, Elizabeth McGovern and Laura Carmichael, as the Crawley family members, and Jim Carter, the head butler, among others.
Set in the early 20th century, Downton Abbey is regarded as the most successful period drama of modern times with its touching depiction of romance, tragedy, change and triumph.
Written and created by Academy Award winner Julian Fellowes, the show ran for six years (six seasons, 52 episodes, reaching a global audience of 300 million and, won many awards and nominations!
Its popularity can be attributed to its strong script and characters (including incredible female roles), a highly talented cast, memorable dialogues, the compelling drama and high emotions playing against the backdrop of larger world events, and the exquisite attention to detail.
Not much has been revealed about the Downton Abbey movie’s storyline except that it is taking place in 1927, a few years after the end of the TV show, and that “the king and queen are coming to Downton!”
The movie will be released in September 2019 so diehard Downton fans need to wait a few more months before they are once again drawn into and become emotionally invested in this British household with some incredible storytelling.
