Director Anurag Kashyap says people are continuously expecting him to do the same thing and reproduce the same type of content. The mastermind behind ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ has reportedly stated that he regrets making it. He went as far as saying his life was ‘ruined’ when his iconic crime thriller ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ released seven years ago. On the 22nd of June, 2012, the first instalment of the two-part iconic crime thriller ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ hit the big screens.
It is an unusual, cult film that circles around the narrative of a gangster who clashes with a ruthless, cruel and merciless coal-mining kingpin. The ever so talented and gifted director recently tweeted saying: “Seven years back is exactly when my life got ruined. Since then all everyone wants me to do is the same thing over and over again. Whereas I have only been unsuccessfully trying to get away from that expectation. Anyways hope that ‘Saadhe Saati’ is over by the end of 2019.”
The 2012 iconic crime thriller, “Gangs of Wasseypur”, was based on a real-life story. It was absolutely loved by the masses and the variety of audiences for its rawness, realness and relatability. It collected approximately Rs100 million (Dh5.2 million) in its opening weekend, alone. Kashyap has also directed films such as ‘Black Friday’, ‘Dev D’, ‘Gulaal’, ‘Ugly’, ‘Raman Raghav’, ‘Mukkabaaz’ and ‘Manmarziyaan’. He is presently working on a new film with Roshan Mathew and Saiyami Kher.
