Sonali Bendre's husband, producer Goldie Behl has issued a public appeal to refrain from spreading fake news on social media, after a politician was caught announcing his wife's hoax death news on Twitter. Sonali, 43, is currently in the US getting treated for cancer. Goldie has urged people to be more responsible about the content they share on social media platforms. He has asked users not to spread or believe in rumours. Sonali married Goldie in 2002, with whom she has a son, Ranveer.   "I appeal to all to please use social media more responsibly. Let us not believe in rumours and spread them, unnecessarily hurting the sentiments of those involved. Thank you," Goldie tweeted on Saturday. Here's the tweet.

The filmmaker's tweet comes after Ram Kadam, an MLA in the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) posted a message on Twitter which read "Sonali Bendre, the actress who ruled Hindi and Marathi cinema was no more."

He later clarified his tweet writing, "About Sonali Bendre ji. It was rumour. Since last two days... I pray to God for her good health and speedy recovery."

Wish rumour mongers were more responsible!
