Kangana Ranaut is often known to speak her mind. Whether it’s on public platforms like Karan Johar’s infamous talk show, or on the sets of her films, Kangana makes sure to voice her opinion and how! This time, Ms. Ranaut is caught right in the middle of the Padmavati debacle. Amidst all the death threats issued on Deepika Padukone, Shabana Azmi decided to take a stand against all the disharmony around the film. She took the matter to officials in New Delhi by writing a letter to the government to ensure Deepika is protected from any violence. To put up a more united front, Shabana asked other B-towners to sign on the petition, supporting the move. All okay till here right?

It was then revealed that Kangana refused to give her consent or sign on the letter and this move understandably whipped the industry into a frenzy. A report on DNA Newspaper then confirmed that Kangana’s problem was not with Deepika, but she just wasn’t interested on joining Shabana’s ‘movement.’ Speaking of her choice, she said, “I was filming Manikarnika in Jodhpur when I got a call from dear friend Anushka Sharma to sign the petition written by Ms. Shabana Azmi. I explained to her that Deepika Padukone has all my support but I am a bit wary of Shabana Azmi’s investment in left-wing Vs right-wing politics. I have my own set of ideas and opinions about the current situation in our country. I am on the fence about many things and being a part of a feminist movement called 'Deepika Bachao' led by someone who character assassinated me when I was bullied by influential men, seems to be one of them. Anushka understood but I am glad they reached out to me. Like I said Deepika has all my support, I am an individual perfectly capable of supporting who I like without anyone’s support.”

According to a report on Hindustan Times, there are a few stars who haven’t been invited to sign the petition, and a few others who chose to bow out of it. Some of the signatories include, Jaya Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Vidya Balan and Konkona Sen Sharma and Anushka Sharma.
By the looks of it, Kangana is in no mood to put behind her, the open letter that Shabana Azmi’s step son, Farhan Akhtar wrote about the Hrithik- Kangana debacle. What do you think about Kangana’s move?
