Dia Mirza Defends Boman Irani
The actress urges the media not to read too much into Boman Irani's absence at her wedding
Dia Mirza and Boman Irani's friendship always seemed an unlikely one and yet when the stars became friends on the sets of Lage Raho Munnabhai, their bond was unbreakable. Or so it seemed. Recently, when the actress tied the knot with her long-time business partner Sahil Sangha, Boman's absence at the wedding was much talked about. After all, he was supposed to be performing the customary kanyadaan ritual at the ceremony. But the actor was apparently caught up promoting his upcoming movie Happy New Year and couldn't make it to the wedding. That, of course, didn't stop the media from speculating further. And so, to finally put an end to the madness, Dia Mirza decided to release the following statement: "This is to let you know that Boman Irani is like a father to me. His absence at my wedding hurt him deeply, as is natural in a relationship that is cemented by deep affection and love. I know that you will appreciate that not only is it unfair but it is also further hurting to read the kind of strange headlines to articles about his absence. I would be very grateful if you would kindly place on record that NOTHING will ever come in the way of our mutual love and respect. And know that such articles don't do any good for an unfortunate circumstance." What a great show of solidarity, Dia! Hope this friendship remains steady for a long time to come!
