Actress Felicity Huffman and Full House Star Lori Loughlin have been charged for bribing to pay for test scores.
According to a report by BBC World, more than 40 people have been charged in a US college cheating scam. Fake scholarships, helping students cheat to get big numbers – all are lists for which the individuals have been charged.
Felicity Huffman, who played Lynette Scavo in the hit series Desperate Housewives, ‘paid 15000 USD to participate in the scheme’ for her daughter. She had even allegedly decided to use the scheme for her second daughter – but later refrained. She was later released on bail of $250000 USD.
Lori Loughlin, who played Rebecca Donaldon-Katsopolis in the ABC sitcom, Full House, allegedly paid ‘bribes totaling $500000 in exchange for having their two daughters designated as recruits” to the University of Southern California’s rowing team. Lori Loughlin has not been taken into custody yet.
The whole scam was rigged by a man named William Singer who pleaded guilty in the case as well. Singer allegedly was running a whole network of bribes and was allowing many undeserving candidates to find places in programs that would not admit them otherwise. Many Ivy League schools were the target for his clients.
For Felicity Huffman, this is a fall from grace since she was a highly decorated actress who had garnered critical acclaim for her performance as Lynette Scavo in Desperate Housewives.
Lori Loughlin’s image in the very wholesome Full House also comes before a fall as Twitterati also shared a video of Loughlin’s daughter where she says, “I don’t really care about school”.
