Deepika Padukone’s Look as Acid Attack Victim Will SHOCK You

Deepika Padukone plays an acid attack victim in her movie Chhapak, directed by Meghna Gulzar. The actress revealed her look from the film

Deepika Padukone’s next film Chhapaak has been in the news ever since it was announced. The Padmavaat actress who has always taken risks with her characters was supposed to play an acid victim in this Meghna Gulzar venture. Some months ago, it was revealed that Death in the Gunj star Vikrant Massey would be her co-star in the film.

However, it was only today that fans realised just how powerful her role is when Deepika posted a picture from the movie where she posed as an acid victim. The post immediately went viral as she put it up with an announcement that she was beginning the shooting of Chhapaak.

Deepika posted a picture of a look test for the film in which she poses as a victim post an acid attack surgery.

Here is the post.

The actress will be playing the character of the brave acid-attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. In the film she is called Malti.

Chhapaak, as mentioned above, is directed by Raazi helmer Meghna Gulzar. The director pairs up with Deepika for the first time. It is scheduled to release on January 10, 2020. Meghna won an award for Best Director at a recent awards night for Raazi and it would be safe to assume that this might be another strong film from her banner.

Meghna Gulzar at an event spoke about her lead actress’ role."You won’t be seeing the Deepika you know. You will be seeing a disfigured Deepika. There is an uncanny similarity between the survivor and Deepika," she said.

In an earlier interview to a portal Deepika said that she was deeply moved when she heard the story as it's not just one of violence but of strength and courage, hope and victory — and that made such a huge impact on her, both personally and creatively, that she decided to produce the film as well.
