Bollywood star Deepika Padukone is one of the most successful celebrities in the industry. With big projects such as Bajirao Mastani, Padmaavat, Tamaasha and many others, the actress is one of the best performers in Bollywood and a force to be reckoned with. While her professional life has been full of glitz and glamour, her real life wasn’t always this happening. The actress suffered from depression for quite a while and opened up on it back in 2015 and has been an advocate for mental health ever since. She even established her own NGO, Live Love Laugh Foundation, to raise awareness about mental health. Now, Deepika is all set to launch her first lecture series on it.
At an event held recently, Deepika said, “It's been four years to Live Love Laugh Foundation and today we launched our first lecture series and I think we have come a long way. The conversation has really opened up and there are fewer stigmas about mental health then there used to be 4 years ago, but certainly we have a long way to go in terms of awareness and that's why we really need to keep the conversation alive." She also thanked the role media has been playing in opening up dialogue around mental health.
Getting into more details about her upcoming venture in association with her NGO, Deepika shared, “The lecture series is to invite people from different professions, from various parts of the world, but most importantly, the people who are passionate about mental health and have us to talk about their journey and experience." On the work front, the actress is currently working on a biopic that she is also producing called Chhapaak, which is based on an acid attack survivor. She will also be teaming up with husband, Ranveer Singh in ’83 which is based on former Indian cricketer, Kapil Dev.
