It’s confirmed! Bollywood filmmaker Anurag Basu- who last directed Jagga Jasoos co-starring Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif in lead roles - recently revealed details about his next film, Imali. Basu’s next project has already become talk of the town. Initially, Anurag Basu roped Kangana Ranaut for the film; however, dates were not coinciding with Kangana’s schedule due to which she had to make her exit from the film. Later, reports of Deepika Padukone replacing the Queen actor began surfacing and have now been confirmed by the director himself!

"We were supposed to start in November but we couldn't because she got busy with Manikarnika and Panga. Even I got busy with my other film. She wanted to be in good space and time to do this film but things did not work out,” the director recently said while speaking to a leading portal.

The filmmaker was then asked about reports which claimed Deepika Padukone was likely to come on board. While he revealed that Deepika had been approached, the Padmaavat actor is yet to give a confirmation. "I cannot confirm till she confirms anything. I did meet her. She has to confirm it to me and then we can confirm it to others," Basu said.

In the meantime, Kangana Ranaut is awaiting the release of her next film, Mental Hai Kya, co-starring Rajkummar Rao. She was also seen making an appearance at the Cannes Film Festival last month. Deepika Padukone on the other was recently spotted rubbing shoulders with Hollywood diva, Kendall Jenner in New York. On the work front, she recently wrapped up work on Meghna Gulzar's Chhapaak alongside Vikrant Massey. She is all set to essay the role of Laxmi Agarwal, an acid attack survivor. She will also be seen next year in Kabir Khan’s ’83, in which she will be playing the wife of Kapil Dev; played by her husband Ranveer Singh.
