Deepika Padukone has again proved that she is one of the most courageous woman in Bollywood today by declaring that she is not scared of the fringe group, some of whom had placed a bounty of five crores for beheading her. Some members of the group had also declared that they would chop off Deepika's nose for defaming them. Don’t such threats scare her? “I will never feel scared. Fear is not an emotion I have ever identified with,” she replied.
While Sanjay Leela Bhansali and his film Padmavati were the targets of fringe groups all this while, Deepika Padukone's vocal retaliation at them has diverted some of that attention towards her. When asked about the threats to her, Deepika told the media, “Well, at this point, as a woman, an artiste and a citizen of this country I feel angry, I feel let down and I also find it amusing."
Amid charges against Bhansali that he has distorted history in the film, the filmmaker had to clear the air once again that there was no dream sequence between Padmavati and Alauddin Khilji, but the protests and violence have only heightened. When asked if creative freedom is being curbed by multiple controversies in the world’s biggest democracy, Deepika said, “Yes, people are allowed to express themselves without having even seen the film. And having worked in the film, I can assure you it’s one film every Indian will be proud of. I’m glad we are showcasing Padmaviti’s journey. Her story needs to be told not just to people in this country but across the world.”
The actress has completed a hat-trick of films with Bhansali now, with three strong characters, Leela, Mastani and now Rani Padmini.
