Coronavirus in Scotland: This Muslim Couple Is Distributing Free Kits To People
Shop owners Asiyah Javed and her husband Jawad have been putting together bags with soap, hand gel and masks to hand out to elderly people around the Falkirk area in Scotland
The worrying situation following the coronavirus outbreak across the globe has proven one thing – the world has come together to collectively fight against one battle. From shops putting sanitizers and hand soaps up for sale to healthcare institutions handing out coronavirus kids to the vulnerable and underprivileged, it feels good to see people around the world helping each other in such testing times. A recent video of a Muslim couple in Scotland has warmed our hearts. Human rights activist who goes by the name of StanceGrounded on Twitter uploaded the clip about the same. He captioned his post, “My heart can't! This Muslim couple, owners of a corner shop in Scotland, assembled Corona Virus relief packages for the elderly and those in need so and delivered them around their village for FREE. This is humanity we need more of this.”

Good for this corner shop in Scotland for giving out free 'coronavirus kits' to those who need them. Not all heroes wear capespic.twitter.com/xtKfC131h5— David Lammy (@DavidLammy) March 13, 2020
He continued, "If you save one life, it is as if you saved all of humanity" and to look at humanity as a human body. As one part of the body aches, the entire body aches. This is who we are.” Shop owners Asiyah Javed and her husband Jawad have been putting together bags with soap, hand gel and masks to hand out to elderly people around the Falkirk area. Talking to National, Asiyah said, "We own this shop, Day Today Express, in Alloa Road, Stenhousemuir and we're giving away this hand gel and hand sanitiser wipe and a mask for the elderly and infirm customers – for all our local customers who are old and they are infirm, so they don't get this coronavirus."
She continued, "We're trying to get out to doing free deliveries for everybody who can't get out the house and whoever comes in, they can take one pack.” A customer in aforementioned video can be heard praising the Muslim couple for their work. "One of my neighbours told me that the kind people in this shop were given free face masks away and I think it's very amazing that they can go to the time and not earn anything, spend money for it, package this stuff together to protect the elderly from the spread of the coronavirus, and everything should be going toward them, really good things on their side." Asiyah explained, "It costs us £2 each but we have given over 500 so far. We've got another 300 on the shelf which we're waiting for the deliveries to go out." There are currently 60 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Scotland.
