There has been much speculation about Mary Kom director, Omung Kumar’s upcoming project, Sarabjit Singh’s Biopic. The story is based on farmer Sarabjit’s incident, Sarabjit Singh an Indian resident of the Bhikhiwind village at the Indo-Pak border, was convicted as a terrorist by Pakistan's Supreme Court in 1991. After 22 years on death row, he was attacked by fellow inmates in jail and died in a Lahore hospital six days later. While sources revealed that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had been selected for the role of Sarabjit’s sister, Dalbir Kaur, everyone was waiting on a name for the lead protagonist Sarabjit Singh himself.
News was doing the rounds that Irrfan Khan and Randeep Hooda were being considered for the part earlier. Now however, the director himself has confirmed that Randeep Hooda has been finalized for the part. The filmmaker took to twitter to make the announcement today, “Aishwarya and @RandeepHooda in my next film SARBJIT coming soon.”
Randeep Hooda has been last seen in Rang Rasiya, a biopic of artist Raja Ravi Verma, while Aishwariya looks forward to the release of her comeback film Jazbaa releasing around the same time as Sarabjit Singh’s biopic's shooting is meant to begin. It will be interesting to see the two actors play the role of siblings while having the tragic story to tell.
