Zeenat Aman returned to India after studying in Los Angeles to pursue a career in journalism. However, modelling assignments, a pageant win and films followed. She was noted for her unconventional choice of roles and Westernised presence at a time when heroines preferred to play obedient girlfriends and wives on screen.
Zeenat's roles in Hare Rama Hare Krishna, Satyam Shivam Sundaram, Laawaris and Roti Kapda Aur Makan are still rated as ground-breaking for Bollywood actresses.
Zeenat was previously married to Mazhar Khan until he died in 1998. After a long struggle fighting false allegations by her husband's family, she now lives with her two sons, Azaan and Zahaan.
