A popular hero from the 1970s, Vinod Khanna was once competing for the numero uno status with Amitabh Bachchan after starring in films such as Hera Pheri, Amar Akbar Anthony and Muqaddar Ka Sikandar.
Vinod made national headlines when he renounced his career to follow the spiritual leader Osho Rajneesh in 1979. He was away from cinema for 8 years but returned to make an impact with his performance in roles such as Dayavan and Chandni. He ventured into politics after joining Bhartiya Janta Party in the late 1990s.
Vinod is married to Kavita and they have two children, Sakshi and Shraddha. His two sons from his first marriage, Akshaye Khanna and Rahul Khanna, are both actors.
