It’s been known for some time now that Dubai-based Sunanda Pushkar and former Indian union minister Shashi Tharoor would be getting married. The news came out after Tharoor sent an email out to his friends and family that he would be marrying Sunanda in his ancestral home in Kerala. Now we can reveal that the ceremony in Kerala on August 22nd will be followed by a grand 3-day reception in Dubai, where Sunanda has long been based.
The couple will have their reception in Dubai from August 29-31 2010, and though the location has not been shared yet due to security reasons, it is going to be a grand celebration.
Sunanda’s wedding outfits and trousseau have been created by Dubai-based designer Anjali Chandiramani of A & H Creations and Vastra Creations. Anjali told Masala.com that the look Sunanda wanted for the wedding outfits was classic, “She wanted to go for a classic look with a flair of style, which is what I kept in mind while designing her sari. We’ve got many different looks in the trousseau, it’s very contemporary and stylish considering she will have a lot of dinner parties to attend.”
This would be the thrid marriage for Tharoor, whose divorce from second wife Christa Giles recently came through.
Sunanda’s relationship with Tharoor was made public after the IPL controversy some months ago. Then IPL commissioner Lalit Modi had alleged that Sunanda had sweat equity believed to be valued at Rs.70 crores in the Kochi IPL team. He’d alleged this was due to her friendship with Tharoor. She surrendered her equity later, and Tharoor lost his ministership because of the controversy.
