Popular casting director, Seher Latif dies of COVID-19 complications; Had worked on films like Lunchbox, Shakuntala Devi, Durgamati and more

The entertainment industry lost one more member to Covid-19.

Seher Aly Latif is a prominent casting director and producer of Netflix series Bhaag Beanie Bhaag starring Swara Bhasker. She has been working as a casting director for films like Lunchbox and Monsoon Shootout, is known for her work both in Bollywood and Hollywood. Seher in her early 40s, passed away on Monday following a cardiac arrest. She breathed her last at Mumbai’s Lilavati hospital, where she was admitted for renal failure.

Director Neeraj Udhwani, who worked with Seher on her Netflix production Maska (2020), confirmed the news of her demise says “It’s unbelievable. It’s so hard to process. We were told she was recovering. And today, I got to know about it. She had an infection due to which she suffered renal failure. She was admitted to the hospital last weekend. Doctors had put on her antibiotics, and we thought she was recovering.”

Her friends and colleagues from Bollywood mourned her demise with emotional social media posts. Actors like Sophie Choudhury took to Twitter to share their grief. And Lunchbox star Nimrat Kaur shared a photo of Seher with her cat, and captioned that the late producer was “one of the kindest people” Mumbai gifted her with.
