Darsheel Safary became a star overnight after the release of "Taare Zameen Par" in 2007.
He was discovered by the film's script writer Amol Gupte at auditions conducted at Shiamak Davar's dance school.
The then 12-year-old won critical acclaim and several awards for his powerful and poignant portrayal of a dyslexic child in the film directed by Aamir Khan.
He is a brand ambassador for several children's brands and has made public appearances to launch kids-related products.
His other film projects include director Priyadarshan's "Bum Bum Bhole" about insurgency in Assam and "Dedh", a comedy starring Sunjay Dutt.
Darsheel is a student of Green Lawns High School in Mumbai.
