Much like Bollywood, Hollywood too has its fair share of award shows throughout the year. Some appreciate talent from the film industry, while others focus on TV and music. One of the most famous award ceremonies to be held in America annually are the Emmy awards. Dating back to 1949, the Emmy’s have come a long way with appreciating most-loved shows such as Game of Thrones, Stranger Things amongst many others. Plus, with the advent of digital platforms, many web series have made their way to the nominations list. This time around, a few Bollywood productions have also made it to the Emmys.
Anurag Kashyap’s Sacred Games, as well as Lust Stories – which had multiple directors on board, have been nominated for the Emmy awards. Both the productions were premiered on Netflix. Even Radhika Apte – the queen of OTT platforms – has been nominated for the Best Performance by an Actress category for Lust Stories. While the nominees rejoiced, other celebrities rushed to congratulate them on making it to the Emmy’s.
Director of Amazon Prime’s Mirzapur, Karan Anshuman said, “Lots of India representation at the international Emmys in 2019! Lust Stories, Sacred Games, The Remix, and Radhika Apte. Well deserved. Huge congratulations all around.”

Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who plays Ganesh Gaitonde in Sacred Games also congratulated the nominees. He tweeted, “Congratulations Anurag Kashyap. You beauty, the epitome of innovation in cinema – making Indians proud across the world. First, for Gangs of Wasseypur being the only Indian film shortlisted by The Guardian and secondly, Sacred Games being nominated at the Emmy’s. Three cheers to Vikram, Neeraj and Team Sacred Games.”

Even Netflix India sent in their wishes. They wrote, “To all the bhaus we’ve loved before, congratulations on the International Emmy nomination, Anurag Kashyap and Vikram Motwane.”
Filmmaker Karan Johar, who has a nomination of his own also said, “Huge badhai ho to the team of Sacred Games, Anurag Kashyap, Vikram Motwane and Netflix India. This is amazing. And to Radhika Apte for the Emmy’s nomination. You go girl! Lust is sacred. To all of us.”

Bollywood star Farhan Akhtar also sent in his prayers. He tweeted, “Congratulations Zoya Akhtar, Karan Johar, Anurag Kashyap, Dibakar Banerjee for the Emmy nomination. Rooting for you.”
Sophie Choudhry wished the stars too. She wrote, “Woah, this is amazing. Huge congrats to you all.”
Bollywood’s favourite Anil Kapoor shared, “Congratulations to the whole team of Lust Stories and Sacred Games on the Emmy Awards 2019 nominations. This is amazing news and so well deserved.”

The 71st Emmy awards will be take place on September 23 and be held at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles, California.
