The total collections of Bharat, starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, have now clocked at Rs240 crores gross net in India and Rs63.4 crores from overseas - numbers contradict traders’ prediction of a 80 per cent drop in the collections. The movie is still going strong at the box-office despite slowing down over the second weekend. Although the movie received mixed review, it opened to packed house. Word of mouth proved to be a game changer for one of the most highly awaited films of 2019 as the movie worked in Tier 2 and 3 cities and also in small towns. The single screens were flooded with people, as were the multiplexes.
Bharat raked in all this attention despite being released right in the middle of cricket’s most celebrated events, the ICC World Cup 2019. It even surprised the trade pandits who were a little skeptical about the collections of the film.
Even on Sunday, the day of the ICC World Cup’s India vs Pakistan clash at Old Trafford, the film managed to collected Rs5.67-6 crore net. On the other hand, most of the other releases showed a downward graph on June 16 but it was only the Ali Abbas directorial that showed muscle strength and positive numbers.
Bharat Worldwide Box Office at a glance:
India Nett – Rs. 201.86 cr.
India Gross – Rs. 240.31 cr.
Overseas Gross – Rs. 63.41 cr
Worldwide Gross – Rs. 303.72 cr
Salman Khan’s last Eid release Race 3, received negative reviews and struggled to stay put at the box-office. But compared to that, Bharat has received mostly positive reviews and it doesn’t seem like that it will crash out anytime soon. Salman has several films lined up post Bharat. He will be next seen in Dabangg 3 directed by Prabhu Dheva and Inshallah directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
