Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif starrer, Bharat, released on Eid ul Fitr 2019 and has received mixed to positive reviews. Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, the film is a remake of the Korean film, An Ode to My Father. The film also stars Sunil Grover, Sonali Kulkarni and Asif Sheikh. Beginning at the time of partition, the story narrates the tale of how Bharat (Salman Khan) struggles to keep a promise to his father (Jackie Shroff) as India, the country, grows with him. The film also marks special appearances from Disha Patani and Tabu. The box office collection of Bharat shows solid growth as it continues its first-week run.
Bharat opened to massive box office numbers. It had the biggest opening this year with 42 crores. This leaves behind the bigger openers this year such as Kesari (20 crores) and Kalank (21 crores). While Kesari went on to make major box office numbers (its lifetime business was 150 crores almost), Kalank fizzled at 80 crores at the domestic box office. This year's biggest hit was Uri: The Surgical Strike which went on to gross 245 crores at the box office. Could Salman Khan's Bharat overthrow the record? It remains to be seen.
According to the trade website, Box Office India, Bharat's current box office collection stands at 118 crores so far. Says the website that, " it will emerge a HIT / SUPER HIT film depending on the holds on Monday and next week". Box Office India continues to state that Bharat "has not found all round appreciation but that was clear from the second-day drop but the bigger cities have liked the film enough and the multiplex business should take the film forward in the long run". A safe prediction can be that Bharat is going to emerge a winner soon.
