Badla

Amitabh Bachchan and Tapsee Pannu starrer Badla has dominated the box office collection. Badla stars Amitabh Bachchan as a lawyer and Taapsee Pannu as his client. Rehashing their old dynamic from Pink, Badla’s story seems to work. Directed by Sujoy Ghosh, the film is a remake of the Spanish film The Invisible Guest.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted earlier saying, "#Badla is dominating the marketplace... Refuses to slow down on weekdays... Will cross *lifetime biz* of #Pink in Week 2 itself... [Week 2] Fri 4.05 cr, Sat 6.70 cr, Sun 8.22 cr, Mon 2.80 cr. Total: ₹ 59.77 cr. India biz. Gross BOC: ₹ 70.52 cr."

Amitabh Bachchan also did a series of promotional videos with Shah Rukh Khan for Badla. Shah Rukh Khan’s production house, Red Chillies Entertainment, is behind Badla. This is certainly good news for Shah Rukh Khan after the abysmal failure of Zero which was released last year. Zero starred Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif and the film failed to meet expectations even though it made around INR 88 crores overall.

So far the top films in 2019 in terms of box office collections are Vicky Kaushal's Uri The Surgical Strike which earned over 237 crores. Ajay Devgn's Total Dhamaal earned 140 crores. Gully Boy earned 132 crores. Manikarnika earned 90 crores whereas Luka Chuppi earned 78 crores. New openers at the box office such as Nawazuddin Siddiqui's Photograph, Ali Fazal's Milan Talkies and Rakeysh Om Prakash Mehra's Mere Pyare Prime Minister failed to make an impact.

All eyes now are on Akshay Kumar's Kesari that releases in the UAE on Thursday March 21.
