Akshay Kumar's Kesari has already struck big numbers at the box office. The film has opened at 20 crores net at the box office according to Box Office India.
"Kesari has recorded the highest opening day of the year as it crosses the 20 crore nett mark," said the site. "The collections can go to 21-22 crore nett also but that will depend on how the mass centers have played out as business on Holi is up and down with low collections in the morning and high in the evening but a lot depends on how many shows are played in the B and C centres."
Akshay Kumar's film tells the story of the Battle of Saragarhi how 21 Sikh soldiers of the British imperial army fought against 10'000 Sikh invaders. Saragarhi fort was known to be mainly a communications relay post but as the Pashtun invaders from Afghanistan attempted to breach the border, Hawaldar Ishar Singh (Akshay Kumar) and his soldiers fought off the invaders.
At 150 minutes in length, the film is receiving mixed to positive reviews. The film stars Parineeti Chopra in a 'special appearance' and Akshay Kumar has lent his vocals to the song ‘Ajj Singh Garjay Ga’ as well. The film is directed by Anurag Singh and produced by Karan Johar. The script is written by Anurag Singh and Girish Kohli and the soundtrack is given by Raju Singh. Anshul Chobey is behind its cinematography and the film was made in a budget of 80 crores.
