In the past two decades, Bollywood has witnessed a growing trend of sequels of popular films, such as Dabangg, Golmaal, Singham, Tanu Weds Manu, Fukrey, Krrish and many others. Some film franchises have two to three parts, others have even more. According to the latest buzz, the popular Housefull franchise may be getting another sequel. Akshay Kumar has just hinted that Housefull 5 may be in the works. The actor was recently seen celebrating the success of his comedy flick Housefull 4, the fourth installment of his popular Housefull franchise, which was released on 25th October 2019 and also emerged as a blockbuster, like the previous parts.
Akshay got together with several stars of all the previous parts, including Riteish Deshmukh, Bobby Deol, Abhishek Bachchan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Chunky Panday and others. He took to Instagram to share a picture of their reunion, writing, “Last night was a #HouseFull of fun with friends from Housefull 1, 2, 3 and 4.Gearing up for 5? I don’t know.”
This update has led to a lot of speculation about Housefull 5. According to a Mumbai Mirror report, the film’s producer, Sajid Nadiadwala, is eager to bring together the stars from the previous Housefull flicks, including Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Deepika Padukone, John Abraham, Kriti Kharbanda, Kriti Sanon, Pooja Hegde and Jacqueline Fernandez.
Meanwhile, cine goers can expect to see sequels of several other movies in the upcoming year. Salman Khan’s cop film Dabangg 3, co-starring Sonakshi Sinha, is slated to release this December. Salman will be seen reprising the role of ace cop Chulbul Pandey while Sonakshi returns as his wife Rajjo. Akshay Kumar’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa is also getting a second part but with Kartik Aaryan, Kiara Advani and Tabu playing the lead roles. The film’s shooting is currently in progress and it is scheduled to release in July 2020.
