Sri Lanka has been rocked by terrorism today and Bollywood celebrities have expressed their condolences and solidarity to the grieving families on social media. Six explosions have been reported across three churches in Negombo, Batticaloa and Kochchikade during Easter services in Sri Lanka. Around 137 people were killed in these explosions and hundreds have been injured. Hotels were also targeted and foreigners have also been under attack. Despite being rocked by civil war that last 25 years in Sri Lanka, the country boosted its tourism industry immediately as the war ended in 2009. There was a 300% growth in the tourism industry in 2015.

Sri Lankan national and Bollywood star Jacqueline Fernandez said, “Extremely sad at the news of bombings in Sri Lanka. It’s unfortunate that one is not able to see that violence is like a chain reaction. This has to stop!”

Gully Boy star, Siddhant Chaturvedi said, “It makes me sad. Such atrocities put humanity in question. My heart aches and prayers be with the people of Sri Lanka.”

Cricketer Virat Kohli expressed his sorrow hence: Shocked to hear the news coming in from Sri Lanka,” he said. “My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone affected by this tragedy”

Bollywood actress and entrepreneur Anushka Sharma said, “Our hearts go out to everyone affected by this tragic act of violence in Sri Lanka. We are praying with you in this painful moment of sorrow, grief and shock.”

Bollywood and Tollywood actor Siddharth said, “What a tragic Easter Sunday. The devil knows no mercy. To attack families and children when they are most vulnerable... This is beyond comprehension.”

Indian PM Narendra Modi also tweeted his condolence, “Strongly condemn the horrific blasts in Sri Lanka. There is no place for such barbarism in our region. India stands in solidarity with the people of Sri Lanka. My thoughts are with the bereaved families and prayers with the injured.”

On the other side of the border, Pakistani PM Imran Khan also said, “Strongly condemn the horrific terrorist attack in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday resulting in precious lives lost & hundreds injured. My profound condolences go to our Sri Lankan brethren. Pakistan stands in complete solidarity with Sri Lanka in their hour of grief.”

Comedian Vir Das also said, “Sending love and light to the families and people of Sri Lanka.”

Bollywood star Sidharth Malhotra said, “My heartfelt condolences & prayers are with the families affected in #Srilanka. Here's praying & hoping for a terror free world!”

Actor and activist Swara Bhasker also said, "Heartbreaking & tragic news from #SriLanka Curses upon the monsters who carried out this inhumanity! On a joyous festive day!  What is the world coming to????? Prayers & strength to the victims & families."

Hollywood celebrity Mindy Kaling also shared her grief. “I’m Hindu, but Easter is one of the most moving and beautiful holidays. I do believe in the power of prayer, even from strangers half the world away,” she tweeted.
