Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor are one of Bollywood’s most-celebrated couples. The two first met on the sets of Tashan back in 2008. According to several reports, the two grew close on the sets which eventually led to the end of her widely known relationship with Shahid Kapoor. Ever since they had been quite open about their relationship despite the chatter. Notably, Kareena is 10 years younger than Saif. Besides, Saif was earlier married to actress Amrita Singh and has two children from his first marriage.
In an earlier interview, Kareena Kapoor had once spilt the beans on how it was she who made the first move towards the Cocktail actor.
Kareena Kapoor about making the first move
During an old conversation with Niranjan Iyer, Kareena spoke about how she made the first move since Saif was ‘restrained’. She said, “I was the one who kind of pushed all the right buttons. Saif actually is the kind of guy who is not very forthcoming towards any woman. He will never make the first move. He is too English and restrained in that way.”
She added, “And plus when I made the first move, he was like, ‘I can’t believe that Kareena Kapoor is doing this’. He was like, ‘why?’ I mean, it was like an entire building had crumbled on his head. So I don’t know what he meant by that, whether he thought he was very lucky or what. But well, eventually it all worked out. And I think it was, I was responsible for it.”
Saif and Kareena love story
Rumours of Saif and Kareena’s relationship began surfacing when the two started working on Tashan, however, the couple managed to keep their romance under wraps. However, in 2007 during a joint appearance at an event in Mumbai, Saif finally confessed his love for Kareena.
The actor was asked if they were dating on the sidelines of the Lakme Fashion Week back then. To this, he replied, “We are here together. Yes, we are together, and that is what I am comfortable saying at the moment”.
He was also questioned about the buzz around their rumoured love story. Saif responded to this saying, “Yes, there has been too much attention lately… That is fair enough. We are not shouting from the rooftop (about the relationship), but we are together and happy”.
After a few years of courtship, they tied the knot on October 16, 2012. They are now parents to two sons, namely, Taimur Ali Khan, born in 2016, and Jehangir Ali Khan, born in 2021.
