Bollywood actor Sooraj Pancholi, the son of veteran actors Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab, recently gave a candid interview shedding light on his complex relationship with his father. In a heartfelt conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Sooraj discussed his father’s past and the challenges they have faced as a family. Despite their differences, he expressed his unwavering love for his father and revealed his perspective on forgiveness.
Sooraj Pancholi made his entry into the Indian film industry in 2015 with the movie “Hero,” co-starring Athiya Shetty, daughter of Suniel Shetty. The film was produced by Bollywood superstar Salman Khan. However, despite the promising launch, he faced difficulties in establishing himself as a successful leading actor.
One of the most challenging phases in Pancholi’s life was his involvement in the Jiah Khan suicide case. While he was acquitted in the legal proceedings, the media spotlight cast a shadow on his image. Sooraj recently opened up about this ordeal in the interview, stating that the media often emphasized his father Aditya Pancholi’s reputation as a troublemaker, even though it didn’t impact the legal outcome.
During the interview, Sooraj Pancholi candidly expressed his views on his father’s life choices. He acknowledged that he did not always agree with his father’s decisions but had chosen to forgive him.
Sooraj mentioned, “My father has a certain image, a bad boy, a person who has done many wrong things. I don’t agree with it, of course. He is my father; I love him no matter what. I don’t agree with the way he has handled things in his life, but, in a way, I have forgiven him because I know that I am his only support in life.”
Sooraj also shared insights into his father’s feelings of responsibility for the way his image was portrayed, particularly in the context of his son’s career. Aditya Pancholi, known for his emotional nature, would occasionally become emotional and even shed tears when reflecting on the challenges faced by Sooraj.
He mentioned, “Dad is very emotional. Sometimes he felt that because of his past mistakes, I went through these things. So maybe sometimes he would shed a tear or two.”
Sooraj revealed that their communication is not characterized by lengthy conversations but rather through exchanged glances and smiles. He stated, “I share a look with him in the evening when I sit with him, that’s it. We don’t talk much. Till today, we don’t talk much. I give him a nice tight hug, he stands up, gives me a hug, that is all we do, and that is enough for him and enough for me.”
