Shefali Jariwala, who is well known as the ‘Kaanta Laga girl,’ captivated audiences with her charm and talent. While her untimely death at 42 shocked the entertainment industry and her fans, many remember her not just for her music video fame but also for her resilience in overcoming personal trauma.

Before she found happiness with actor Parag Tyagi, Shefali endured a painful chapter in her first marriage to musician Harmeet Singh, one half of the popular Meet Brothers duo. The two tied the knot in 2004, but their relationship ended five years later amid serious allegations of domestic abuse. Shefali opened up about the emotional turmoil she experienced during that time.

During a conversation with Times Now, Shefali Jariwala explained the deeper scars left by non-physical violence. “It is very important to understand that you are not being appreciated. Not every kind of violence is physical. There is a lot of mental violence that also happens, and you are very unhappy in your life,” she said.

Shefali, who rose to fame before her marriage through the hit song Kaanta Laga, had collaborated with Harmeet and his brother on a few projects, including the music video Pyaar Humein Kis Mode Pe Le Aaya. After their separation in 2009, Shefali often credited her independence and strong upbringing for giving her the courage to walk away from a toxic relationship.

Shefali Jariwala and Parag Tyagi’s love story

Shefali Jariwala’s life took a turn for the better when she met Parag Tyagi, a television actor known for his work in Pavitra Rishta and Jodha Akbar. Their first meeting was arranged by a mutual friend at a dinner party, and sparks flew instantly. Recalling that moment, Shefali said, “We really liked each other a lot and hit it off instantly. Parag and I are very similar and different in many ways. I think we kind of balance each other out.”

After dating for a few years, Parag proposed to Shefali Jariwala during their appearance on Nach Baliye in 2012. Two years later, the couple tied the knot in a quiet court marriage. Their love story stood in stark contrast to the pain Shefali had once endured — a testament to her strength, healing, and hope.
