According to reports, director Kunal Kohli has finally ended all his ties with Yash Raj Films.
The association between the two had already gone sour during the making of Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic, but matters worsened when the film failed at the box office and it seems that because of the failure, YRF refused to pay Kunal his balance dues.
The director, who had earlier made films such as Fanaa, Hum Tum and Mujhse Dosti Karoge for YRF, met Aditya and asked for his due payments. Since he’s a co-producer with YRF, he was owed about 20 to 25 per cent of the profits.
Aditya told him that Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic had suffered heavy losses because of which he couldn’t pay Kunal the amount he had been promised.
After this, reportedly there was a heated exchange of words, resulting in a big showdown. Before its release, there were many corporate companies that were interested in purchasing the rights of the film but YRF did not agree to the idea. Kunal is still upset that YRF did not sell the film to a corporate house as this would have minimised their losses.
During their recent showdown, he again put forth this argument and that upset Aditya even more.
On being asked about this, Kunal admitted that he had gone to YRF Studios after returning from Germany. But he denied the reports about having an argument with Aditya.
Commenting on not getting his dues, Kunal said that since the movie has not made any profits, it is not possible for Aditya to pay him anything.
He also said that the rumour about him having been asked to vacate the office provided by YRF is not valid. He will be moving out of the place because he needs a bigger space, he said.
