Ayushmann Khurrana is all set to return to the big screen in a full-blown comedy, backed by Bhushan Kumar and Juno Chopra. While reports of the project first surfaced earlier this month, hinting at a start-to-finish schedule from August 2025, fresh updates reveal a major development on the casting front.
Now latest report revealed that Sara Ali Khan has been finalised as the female lead opposite Ayushmann in this laugh-riot. This marks the first time the duo will be sharing screen space, making it an exciting new pairing in the comedy genre.
Pinkvilla report cited a source close to the production as saying, “Sara and Ayushmann are a fresh combo in the comic space, and the actress fits the T for the character’s brief. She heard the script, and it was an instant yes from her side for the film.” The upcoming comedy will be helmed by Mudassar Aziz, who has previously directed hits like Happy Bhaag Jayegi, Pati Patni Aur Woh, and the upcoming Khel Khel Mein.
Speaking about the tone of the film, the source added, “It’s a typical comedy from the era gone by – a multi-star cast, where the lead is stuck in a situation leading to comedy. Apart from Sara, the film has the presence of two more female actors alongside a formidable ensemble. The casting for this yet untitled comic caper is presently underway.”
The film is scheduled to begin shooting in August 2025, with plans to wrap production by November of the same year.
Meanwhile, both Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan are also part of another comedy project, a yet-untitled spy comedy under the Dharma Productions banner. That film is currently in post-production and is targeting a theatrical release in the first quarter of 2026. With two high-energy comedies in the pipeline, the Ayushmann-Sara pairing seems poised to bring a fresh flavour to Bollywood’s comic space.
