Renowned Bollywood filmmaker Imtiaz Ali, known for his exceptional storytelling, is set to make a comeback with his latest project, “Amar Singh Chamkila,” featuring the talented duo of Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra. In a recent interview, Imtiaz shared intriguing insights into his upcoming projects and FINALLY answered if Jab We Met 2 is on the cards!
When questioned by Pinkvilla about the possibility of sequels to his iconic films like “Love Aaj Kal” and “Jab We Met,” Imtiaz Ali responded with uncertainty, stating that while there are currently no plans for sequels, he doesn’t completely rule out the idea for the future. He expressed his eagerness to embark on new projects, mentioning that he has three scripts ready and is excited to start filming again.
He said, “I never say never but no plan as of now. But then yes I have 3 scripts that I am now crazily desperate to start getting onto making. I can’t wait to start filming again.”
Delving into the evolution of cinema, Imtiaz Ali emphasized the dynamic nature of audience preferences. He highlighted the audience’s inclination towards fresh and unique content, noting their aversion to repetitive themes. Imtiaz acknowledged the rapid changes in the industry, attributing them to the media explosion of the past decade.
Discussing the impact of OTT platforms on the film industry, Imtiaz noted the abundance of choices available to viewers compared to the past. He reflected, “Like when I go to the table it seems like a full feast is laid as far as the OTTs are concerned, the choices are so many. That choice was not available. There was a time when I was a kid in Jamshedpur and that one movie that came was the only thing that you could ever watch.”
Imtiaz Ali’s upcoming biographical film, “Amar Singh Chamkila,” featuring Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra, is scheduled for release on Netflix on April 12. With its intriguing storyline and talented cast, the film promises to captivate audiences and further showcase Imtiaz Ali’s prowess as a storyteller in the world of Indian cinema.
