Good Newwz – starring Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani — was theatrically released on Friday, 27th December. Produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and directed by Raj Mehta, this comedy film follows the story of two couples with the same surname, Batra, who are eager to become parents and pursue in-vitro fertilisation. However, things don’t go as planned. The movie has received good ratings and reviews, and had a great start at the box office, opening with around INR 17.56 crore. Here’s what the audience is saying about the film on Twitter:

Bollywood actress Nushrat Bharucha wrote, “#GoodNewwz is an absolute laugh riot! @akshaykumar Sir you are phenomenal, you’ve had me in splits from the word go, @diljitdosanjh you light up the screen, you have my heart, my god how funny are you!”

Director Milap Zaveri congratulated the Good Newwz team and shared, “Sent my father in law for #GoodNewwz last night. His review “Haven’t laughed so much since ‘The Hangover!’ Congrats. SUPERHIT!”

Film trade analyst Sohail Khan (@itssohailkhan) tweeted, “#GoodNewwz One word review : Hilarious Entertainer !! A movie like this comes once in a while and leaves you asking for more. Brilliant direction by @raj_a_mehta and screenplay is also very tight. In 2 hours 14 minutes you will get full dose of entertainment.”

Giving the movie 4 stars, film critic Taran Adarsh was full of praise for the movie. Writing for an entertainment portal, he said, “There’s hardly any dull moment, frankly. Sure, the film could’ve done without a song or two, but these are minor glitches in an otherwise watertight script. While the drama keeps you hooked, the dialogue only heighten the impact of several sequences.” Sreeparna Sengupta, wrote in the Times of India, “Kareena Kapoor Khan steals the show and delivers a knockout performance as the sophisticated Deepti, and her character’s emotional arc is developed well. Akshay Kumar hits the right spot with his comic timing. As does Diljit Dosanjh, who sinks his teeth into his character and plays it with full gusto. Kiara Advani is sincere and makes an impression.”

Another Twitter user, Mack (@mohitchetwani) was disappointed and posted, “#GoodNewwz Movie Review: **/5 Stars. | Second Half Boring. #Akshay ki Overacting.
