Makeup is an essential part of your look and appearance and it is important to always get it right, otherwise it can take your look from fab to drab! As seasons change, it is advisable to upgrade your look accordingly. With the onset of the monsoon season, you may want to take your look up a notch; and what better way to do it than with a change in your look! While changing your whole wardrobe for a new season could break the bank, adding a few new makeup products to your existing makeup bag won’t set you back as much. So here we rounded up some Bollywood beauties and looks that could inspire you this monsoon season.
1. A pop of colour
Monsoon season is all about new beginnings and starting afresh. After a long hot summer, it’s time to add a pop of colour or more to your look; and what better way to do it than with bright coloured eye shadows? If you’re a beauty junkie, and even if you’re not; you’ve probably seen lots of beauty looks featuring bright coloured eyelids. Bright pops of colour on the eyelids made an appearance on the ramp during many fashion shows in 2018 and the trend has grown bigger and better over time. From cobalt blue, to sunshine yellow or metallic pinks; take your pick and layer your eyelid with a slick of colour.
Be sure however, to keep the rest of your makeup simple to avoid over doing it. You don’t want to make the mistake of having a bright pink eyelid with a red pout. Seen here, Sonam Kapoor opted for bright yellow lids to match her printed co-ord set but kept the rest of her look to a minimum. With nude lips and barely there makeup, Sonam Kapoor aced the look like nobody’s business.
2. Tinted Lips
If you want to opt for a natural look but still want to add some colour, then tinted lip colour is going to be your go-to makeup essential this monsoon season. Varieties of tinted lipsticks are available in the market and can give your pout a hint just the right amount of colour, while maintaining a natural look. Whether you want to opt for hues of pink or a deeper shade of red, make sure you find a colour that suits your tone and complexion. You don’t want to end up choosing a dark shade which will in turn take away from your natural look.
Think along the lines of Alia Bhatt who opted for a cherry coloured pout with her desi attire. The rest of her makeup was kept minimal and with defined eye brows and a coat of mascara, Alia Bhatt looked perfect for a rainy monsoon day.
3. Glossy Lips
It’s very hard to go wrong with a glossy lip. This beauty essential is also available in a variety of shades and hues. From nude, earthy tones, to dark berry hues, you can find the shade that will suit you best. For the days when you don’t want to apply any makeup, just touch up your concealer and add some gloss, or if you’re heading out for a night out in town, go heavy on the eyes and opt for a nude coloured gloss.
Or just like Malaika Arora opt for winged eyeliner, defined brows, bronzed cheeks and a coat of your favourite lip gloss. So when all else fails and if you’re out of ideas, then add a slick of lip gloss and you’re good to go.
4. Kohl-Rimmed Eyes
Lining your eyes the old fashioned way can take you a long way this monsoon season. Not only will dark-rimmed eyes help you make a statement, but it is also an easy look to achieve. For those with bigger eyes, lining your eyes with black will give the illusion of smaller eyes. To enhance your look further, you can use a smudging tool to smudge along your eye so that the kohl is not just on your water line but also on the skin around your eyes.
Depending on how dramatic you want your look to be, you can layer up the mascara until you achieve the desired results. Also, depending on the look you’re going for; keep the rest of your makeup simple as you wouldn’t want to overdo it with dark eyes and heavy makeup. Take a leaf out of Kareena Kapoor’s books and team your dark eyes with a glossy lip and rosy cheeks!
5. Shimmery Lids
Shimmer will never go out of style and looks good with pretty much everything. Whether you’re heading out on a lunch date or a night out, you can dress it up by adding some shimmer to your look. You can find shimmer in an array of colours but it’s best to opt for subtle shades so you can play around with other products for your look.
Sushmita Sen’s look in this picture is the perfect example of how best to use shimmer on your lids. Rim your eyes with kohl and add a slick of mascara and go for a bronzed look all over. Add some shimmer to your cheeks and the bridge of your nose and finish your look off with a glossy lip. You can even opt for a matte look with a liquid matte lipstick which are also widely available in the market.
6. The Bold Pout
If you are in any way inclined to makeup and beauty, then you’ll know that you can never go wrong with a bold pout. A bold pout is your answer if you can’t decide on a look. Rocking a bold red or a pop of pink can draw all the attention to your face without you making much of an effort, owing to the striking colour. Whether you’re opting for a casual look or heading out to a formal event, a bold lip colour will have your back.
A bold red like MAC’s Ruby Woo is so versatile and perfectly suited with an all-black ensemble or even with a white tee and jeans. For a night time soiree you can choose a deeper colour from a palette of cherry hues and purples. Whatever you decide, be sure to keep the rest of your look rather subtle. Just one coat of mascara or eyeliner will work in your favour with a bold pout. Take cue from Shraddha Kapoor’s latest look and you’ll be good to go!
