Bollywood actor Jagdeep Sahab passes away at age 81
Fellow actors share their condolences for the film comedian
Jagdeep Sahab passed away at age 81. The actor had a career that spanned over four decades and 400 films, seeing him in a variety of comedic roles. The actor was well known for his role as Soorma Bhopali in G. P. Sippy’s cult film Sholay, which starred Dharmendra and Amitabh Bachchan.
Jagdeep started his career in Bollywood as a child with films such as Bimal Roy’s Do Bigha Zamin, and Guru Dutt’s Aar Paar. In 1988 the actor turned his hand to production as he directed the film Soorma Bhopali which was based on his character from Sholay.

There is no confirmation on why the actor died, although several reports said he had been suffering from a long term terminal disease for a long time. He leaves behind two sons, actor Javed Jafri and TV director, Naveed Jafri.
