Bharat Box-Office Prediction: The Salman Khan Starrer May Take an Opening of INR 35 Crore
Salman Khan’s Bharat is all set to take a flying start at the box office thanks to the combination of Salman and director Ali Abbas Zafar
All eyes are glued to the release Salman Khan’s Eid release. Bharat is going in for one of the widest releases for a Salman starrer. “The expectations are no doubt humongous. There are huge stakes riding on the project. I would say it would earn 35 crores on the day of its release and would definitely bring Salman back after Race 3. The Salman-Ali Abbas Zafar combo cannot fail,” says Bihar’s distributor Kishan Damani.
Trade expert Girish Johar feels Bharat will be huge at the box office. “Bharat is all set to have a flying start. It’s Eid and Salman's film is taken to be part of the festivities on this joyous occasion. With Ali Abbas Zafar it is his third outing and it seems he has a winner on hand.”
But then, Johar feels it is ultimately the content and not the superstar that will dictate the film’s fate. “Along with the bumper start the film will have to pass the content test, as nowadays audiences are not keen to watch anything which is up for grab. They want good quality content in which they want to be entertained. Last Eid’s Race 3 exactly proved the same, and it’s same this time too. Salman will bring in the crowds but Ali Abbas Zafar proving his mettle is the key to the success of Bharat.”
Trade analyst Atul Mohan feels the time is right for another blockbuster from Salman. “The expectations are definitely sky high. Salman Khan and Ali Abbas Zafar combination has been highly successful one and has delivered two of the highest grossers for Salman Khan. The last two Eid outings Tubelight and Race 3 may have not been great for Salman Khan. But you can't ignore the fact that the films were not great in content. Bharat will be an interesting film in Salman’s career because for first time he tries on a variety of looks.”
However Atul warns that the first day’s collections may not be spectacular, “Since the film opens on Wednesday when India plays its first World Cup match and it would also be pre-Eid day the opening day numbers maybe in the range of 25 crore rupees, and from there onwards it will be content which will take the film forward.”
