Ayushmann Khurrana is all the rage these days. With his third consecutive hit of the year – Amar Kaushik’s Bala – the Bollywood heartthrob has been soaring high at the box office. The film, which opened to massive numbers on its first day of release, falling between INR10 and INR12 crore, was being touted as Ayushmann’s best performance of the year. In the same light, Bala is not being compared to other projects that have released around the same time but it seems like an ‘Ayushmann Khurrana vs Ayushmann Khurrana’ kind of competition. This means that all eyes have been on whether the cumulative first-week box office collection of Bala will surpass that of the actor’s previous outing, Dream Girl.

Bala raked in INR5.20 crore on Wednesday, the sixth day since it hit cinema screens. Despite the decline in figures, this takes its total collection to INR66 crore. And while this is an achievement in itself, it has just one day left to meet the first-week box office collection of Dream Girl, which earned INR72 crore in seven days.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh updated the box office figures of the film on Twitter. He wrote, ”Bala registers an expected decline [on Wed], after the holiday [on Tue]... Despite the dip, the film is a success story/Hit due to the controlled economics... Fri 10.15 cr, Sat 15.73 cr, Sun 18.07 cr, Mon 8.26 cr, Tue 9.52 cr, Wed 5.20 cr. Total: Rs 66.93 cr. #India biz.” Ayushmann plays a young man dealing with premature balding in the film. It revolves around his struggles in his love life and how he lacks confidence and self-esteem due of his looks. It also features Yami Gautam as his wife, a Tik Tok artist, who is shocked when she has to marry a bald man. Bhumi Pednekar also stars in Bala.
