Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus has been on the floor for a year now
The Priyanka Chopra, Deepkia Padukone and Ranveer Singh starrer historical saga of a Peshwa warrior Bajirao and his love triangle with his wife and mistress Mastani has been on the floors for a year now.
Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali celebrated the completion of one year of shoot of Bajirao Mastani by cutting a cake with the entire team and crew members with a decorated set and a little in-house party, reported an article in bollywoodlife.com. The film has been Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s dream project and is all set to clash with Rohit Shetty's Dilwale in December.
The film has been produced on a grand scale, with no expense spared in depicting the rich attire and surroundings of those times. Set designers recreated the oplulent Sheesh Mahal on an area of 12,500 sq ft over a span of 35 days and over 20,000 mirrors were ordered from Jaipur for it.
Both Ranveer and Deepika have undergone martial arts training for the film. Anju Modi, the film's costume designer had worked to recreate an authentic wardrobe for the actors. While Deepika will be seen in a lot of shararas, kurtis and angrakhas, Priyanka will be wearing the traditional Navvari sarees. Sanjay Leela Bhansali has been planning to make Bajirao Mastani since 10 years, and was originally keen to have Salman Khan as Bajirao and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Mastani. However, things did not materialise due to a reported tiff between the actor and filmmaker, reported an article in bollywoodlife.com. There were also stories of him wanting to rope in Kareena Kapoor Khan and Rani Mukerji in lead roles. In 2014, reports said that Sanjay wanting to cast Ajay Devgn and Deepika Padukone for the project however, Ajay was not willing to commit 200 days for one film.
