Ayushmann Khurrana is currently in Varanasi — an important city for religion and spirituality in India -- where he is shooting for his upcoming film Shubh Mangal Zyada Savdhaan. The actor took this opportunity to fulfill his wish to perform Ganga Aarti. He also took to Instagram to share a picture of his experience. Expressing his gratitude for this opportunity, he wrote, “I find myself at the places of strong energies just before the release of my films. I don’t even plan this. Before the release of AndhaDhun and Badhaai Ho i was in Vaishnodevi. During Dreamgirl i was at Lalbaugh. And now just before #Bala i am at the ghats of Banaras. Thank you universe for channelising all the positive energies towards me. #Gratitude.”

Maddock Films, which has produced Ayushmann’s upcoming film Bala, also shared the actor’s pictures from Varanasi on their Instagram story.

Ayushmann revealed in an interview that this had been a ‘surreal’ experience for him but also shared that by coincidence he had been in spiritual places just before the release of his previous films, which have gone on to do remarkably well at the box office. He said he hoped such coincidences would happen again in the future.

The actor also shared a throwback video on his Instagram story where he can be seen transforming into a prematurely balding man for his character in Bala. The actor wrote, “This was the best day of my life!!! (in the tone of Summer of ‘69) 3 Days for BALA.” The film, which is scheduled to release this Friday, has been surrounded by controversy since the last few months as several people have come forward with plagiarism charges. The makers of Sunny Singh’s film Udja Chaman had highlighted the similarities between the two movies but have now withdrawn their case. Now the film is facing legal trouble from another filmmaker, Kamal Kant Chandra, who has also accused Ayushmann and the film’s director and producer of plagiarising the script of his biopic, which he claims he had shared with Ayushmann in 2017.
