Arshad Warsi Would Like to Play More Serious and Intense Roles Instead of Just Comedy
Arshad Warsi revealed that while he is not worried about being typecast, he does wish that filmmakers utilised his talent better
Popularly known as Circuit from Munnabhai MBBS, Bollywood star Arshad Warsi is one of the finest actors in the industry right now. While fans don't usually get to see him as often as the rest of the stars of the industry, Arshad surely leaves a mark with every film he does. The actor started his career back in 1989 with Aag Se Khelenge and has since worked in a number of films - some of his most famous ones being Golmaal and Dhamaal. Now, as Arshad is gearing up for the release of his next film, Pagalpanti, he opened up on why he's often seen in comic roles.
In an interview with Mumbai Mirror, Arshad shared, "Comedies are more saleable and the returns are good. And honestly, I don't get offered serious, intense roles or subjects. I either don't like the offers that I get or they are too depressing. I wish someone would come up with something like Sehar, Jolly LLB or Irada." In another interview, the actor also spoke about being typecast because of his choice in films lately. He added, "Nobody offers me anything apart from comedy. I have been here in the industry for a while now and I really don’t care of being typecast. I am going on and on and I won’t stop. It really doesn’t matter to me."
Arshad also spoke about the possibility of reuniting with his Munnabhai MBBS co-star Sanjay Dutt and filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani for the third installment of the franchise. He concluded, "Raju is working on the second half of the script. And to be honest, I have given up but Raju hasn't. Even Vidhu Vinod Chopra - the producer - and Abhijat Joshi, the writer, have not given up. So whenever they are ready, Sanjay and I will be ready too." As of now, Arshad will be next seen in Pagalpanti which hits screens on November 22.
