Arjun Kapoor is one of the most talked about celebrities in Bollywood. Son of film producer Boney Kapoor, he started his acting career in 2012 along with Parineeti Chopra in Ishqzaade. Throughout the course of his career, he starred with Ranveer Singh in Gunday, Alia Bhatt in 2 States and Ki & Ka with Bollywood beauty, Kareena Kapoor Khan amongst many other films. While he does get his fair share of attention to the films he has signed, it's her personal life that seems to be talked about the most. Whether it's his relationships with step-sisters Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor or his girlfriend Malaika Aurora, Arjun always seem to make the headlines. However, this time around, it's  about a film that he avoided signing.

In an interview with India Today, Arjun said that he was the one who was first offered the role of Kabir Singh, but could not do it due to a complicated situation. The role was then offered to Shahid Kapoor. In the interview, Arjun said, "It did not reach that stage where I could chose or not. When the rights were being acquired by  the producers, Ashwin Varde and Murad Khetani, who made Mubarakan, they acquired it keeping me in mind. Sandeep Vanga, the director had met Shahid Kapoor and he had seen the Telugu original before and they decided to do the film together."

But Arjun does not regret not signing the film, he added, "Shahid is a fine actor and a fantastic choice. He performed really well and the film went on to earn Rs 275 crore." In regards to the filmmaker, Arjun concluded, "The film needed Sandeep Vanga. There is a madness to that film, there is an inherent energy. It is a simple story but there was madness to the treatment. Sandeep had already committed and he wanted to stick by his words and I respect that. I did not want my producers sitting around with the rights of the film and not making it out of me being in an ego tussle with anybody." Arjun is currently filming Panipat opposite Sanjay Dutt and Kriti Sanon.
