Bollywood superstars, Anil Kapoor and Jackie Shroff have undoubtedly been one of the most iconic duos of the industry. Starring in Subhash Ghai's directorial Ram Lakhan together back in 1989, both actors have come a long way. They starred in multiple films ever since, namely Karma, Parinda, Yudh, Andar Baahar, Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja, Lajja and the most favourite of all, 1942: A Love Story. And while the two worked their magic on screen, fans have been eagerly waiting for them to come back together again. According to Mumbai Mirror, the much-awaited reunion might be taking place sooner than we can imagine.
While it hasn't been confirmed if this new project will be a sequel to the 30 year old classic, Ram Lakhan, a source close to Kapoor, Ghai and Shroff has told that the two actors will be playing 50-year-old cops. The insider added. "It’s a crime-comedy that tells the story of two 50-year-old cops and is slated to go on the floors in Mumbai later this year." Kapoor and Shroff played brothers who worked in the police force in Ram Lakhan, so something still seems a little fishy. However, for now, it has been revealed that the film will be titled Ramchand Kishanchand, possibly implying the names of the characters the actors will play, who could again, be brothers. Who knows?
Kapoor had hinted at the reunion with his Parinda co-star a few months ago. While celebrating 30 years of Ram Lakhan's release earlier this year, the 62-year-old star had also tweeted, "30 years of Ram Lakhan and it's been one of my greatest joys to watch Lakhan continue to bring a smile to people's faces and dance in their steps. I'm not one to look back and ponder, but as I move forward to new avenues, I'm grateful for the choices that got me here."

The trio has remained rather tight-lipped about the project. However, Ghai once told, "We have been working on various scripts for Anil and Jackie and have liked one."
Rumours of a remake of Ram Lakhan have always been rife, possibly under the direction of Rohit Shetty - who enjoys making cop films. There were reports of many big stars playing the iconic characters which including the likes of Ranbir Kapoor and Varun Dhawan or Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor. However, the remake was shelved and Shetty revealed that it is because the "younger lot is too insecure to work together". In an interview with India Today about two years ago, he said, "The last lot to work together is Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar or Abhishek Bachchan and Hrithik Roshan. But the new lot won't work with each other, I don't know why they are insecure of each other? So, now we have just kept it aside. I guess we will have to make it again with Anil Kapoor and Jackie Shroff."
