Anushka Sharma Shares Why She Wore a Pink Lehenga Instead of a Traditional Red One at Her Wedding
Anushka Sharma tied the knot with Indian cricketer Virat Kohli in Tuscany, Italy, in December 2017. Her pink bridal lehenga received a lot of praise.
Anushka Sharma wore a stunning Sabyasachi Mukherjee lehenga for her wedding with Indian Cricket Captain Virat Kohli in December 2017. But for her special day, which was celebrated in Italy, the actress opted for a beautiful pink colour lehenga instead of the traditional red worn by most brides in India. As per a report on an entertainment portal, the actress recently revealed the reason behind her choice. She shared that on meeting fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee for her wedding dress design, she had informed him she wanted to go for a pale pink instead of the traditional red as her wedding was taking place during the day, under the Tuscan sun. She said the vibe was such that she did not want to overdo it and thus thought of pastel colours and flowers.
During her wedding reception, which took place in Delhi, Anushka opted for a red Benarasi saree combined with heavy traditional jewellery and sindoor. Commenting on this very Indian look, Anushka said she had told Sabyasachi about her choice and he was very excited she was going down the traditional route as he said most women now wear gowns at their reception in India.
Anushka is currently on a vacation with her husband Virat in Bhutan, and has been sharing social media updates from her trip. The couple celebrated Virat’s birthday during the trip, with Anushka sharing a note for him on Instagram. It read, “This one is my blessing . My friend , My confidante , My one true love . I hope you find the light guiding your path always and may you choose to do the right thing every time . Your compassion is what makes you a good leader and i pray that you always have that in abundance. Happy Birthday my love.”
