Anushka Sharma Praises Social Worker Sunitha Krishnan Who Appeared on Kaun Banega Crorepati 11

Anushka Sharma appreciated the work of social activist Sunitha Krishnan who rescues sex trafficking victim. Here’s what the actress said.

Anushka Sharma is all praises for social activist Sunitha Krishnan, who was honoured with a Padma Shri in 2016, the fourth highest civilian award in India. Sunitha, who rescues women from sex trafficking, recently appeared on a Karamveer Special episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) 11, hosted by Amitabh Bachchan. Sunitha, who has been a victim of gang rape herself in her teenage years, highlighted the horrific crimes taking place against women in India and revealed how the youngest victim she had rescued was only three-and-a-half years old.

She also spoke about her organisation Prajwala, which has  set up one of the largest rehabilitation homes in the country for rehabilitating the rescued women and children.

"When I felt that there is an urgent need to help these victims, we created our own community of women named Prajwala which aims to contribute towards uplifting these girls. I am obliged to 'KBC' and Mr. Bachchan for giving us a platform where we can fearlessly talk about our journey with the world," Sunitha said on the show.

Sunitha also posted a message for Amitabh Bachchan to express her gratitude. She said, “@SrBachchan Sir thank you is inadequate to describe my gratitude for your generosity to support our mission. Your compassion& courage to showcase our mission on KBC gave each Prajwala warrior extraordinary strength to continue our efforts & we will not stop.”

After watching the KBC episode featuring Sunitha, Anushka Sharma took to Twitter to appreciate her, saying she was ‘grateful that people like her exist in this world’. She also thanked KBC for ‘highlighting such amazing people’ and wrote, “The incidents and the dirty realities that a crusader like @sunita_krishnan brought to light on the KBC episode are so shocking and hurtful. She has done and is doing such incredible work in rescuing women and young girls as little as 3 years old from sex trafficking.”
