Rishi Kapoor is not one to hold back, and is found lashing out every once in a while. His target off late has been filmmaker, Anurag Basu, following the release of Jagga Jasoos.
After the film received mixed reviews from audiences, Ranbir Kapoor’s dad, slammed the filmmaker at several interviews, calling him out for being ‘irresponsible’ and ‘unprofessional’. Most recently, he targeted Anurag on Neha Dhupia’s show, commenting on how he failed to impress with Jagga Jasoos. He said, “You know when they are good enough to work on certain budget and suddenly they are given huge budgets in hand so bandar ke haath mein khilona nahin aa jaata hai, he goes absolutely berserk. So I think that’s what actually happened.”
Anurag Basu previously choose to maintain silence over Rishi’s comments, stating that he respected the veteran actor, who was also the father of his close friend, Ranbir. However, this time the director has chosen to speak up.
In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, he said, “See it's his [Rishi Kapoor] opinion I will not feel bad. There was also Amitji [Amitabh Bachchan] who loved the film and tweeted wonderful things about it and then there was Chintu ji who didn't like the film, so I will appreciate both appreciation and criticism.” He further added, “It's Chintuji's opinion he didn't even like Barfi, so I appreciate everybody's opinion on the film. The best part about the entire controversy was that now people know that Anurag Basu and Anurag Kashyap are two different people.” Haha!
Commenting on the response his film received from audiences, Anurag said, “My film wasn't rajma chawal that everybody will like, but as long as all the kids I know enjoyed I am happy.’
Now that’s a graceful way to handle criticism, don’t you think?
