Anupam Shyam is stable in hospital with a kidney infection

Celebrities and fans have come forward to support financially with his medical bills

Veteran actor, Anupam Shyam was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in Goregoan’s Lifeline Medicare Hospital yesterday. His brother, Anurag Shyman has informed fans today that Anupam’s condition has improved in the last 24-hours.

The 62- year-old, who is suffering with a kideny infection, was orginally admitted to a hospital in Malad where he was undergoing dialysis but was transferred to Goregaon after he collapsed. After his admission, the actors family reached out to his colleagues in the film industry for finanacial help. Cine and TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA) posted on social  media asking people to come forward with donations for the actor’s treatment.

“We are grateful to those who have acknowledged the difficult times we are going through and thank those who have donated for my brother’s treatment. His condition has improved and he also had dinner last night”, said Anurag to the Mirror Online.

He went on to say that Bollywood actors, Sonu Sood and Manoj Bajpayee have reached out to show their support. This comes after Sonu shared the CINTAA’S request on his Twitter account with the caption, "in touch with them" referring to Anupam's family. 

Anupam is best known for playing Thakur Sajjan Singh in the TV series Mann Ki Awaaz: Pratigya. He has also starred in films such as Dil Se, Bandit Queen and Slumdog Millionaire.
