The #MeToo accused from Bollywood all seem to be enjoying a fresh innings. Music composer Anu Malik, accused by multiple women, is back in business. He will be seen again on Sony’s music reality show Superstar Singer, although not in the capacity of a judge but a celebrity guest.
However, Malik remains locked out of production houses where he did many of his most successful soundtracks. We hear after Yash Raj films, producer Sajid Nadiadwala has also blacklisted Anu Malik. Malik has composed some of the most successful chartbusters for Nadiadwala productions such as Judwaa and Jaan-e-Mann.
Nadiadwala and Malik also share a very close personal rapport. Following the #Metoo accusations, Malik finds himself ostracized among most of his old associates. Nadiadwala earlier took a stand against another close friend, Sajid Khan when he was accused of sexual misconduct the producer promptly dropped Sajid’s name from the credits of the underproduction comedy House Full 4.
When we asked music composer Lalit Pandit, whose niece singer Shweta Pandit was among the first to accuse Anu Malik of sexual misconduct, he had this classic reaction to Anu Malik’s comeback. “Bachna ae haseenon lo main aa gaya”
