Anil Kapoor: 'I Don't Starve To Stay Fit'
Ahead of Race 3 that releases this Eid, Anil Kapoor talks about his eventful year
Not that any other year is any different for Anil Kapoor. But this year this indefatigable actor’s life has been a whirlwind of events. Son Harshvardhan and daughter Sonam’s films being released on the same day (Bhavesh Joshi and Veere di Wedding respectively) and most important of all, daughter Sonam’s marriage.
Anil now has Race 3 coming up for release this Eid. Amid the frenzy, this is what he has to say about the film. “It has been one helluva joyride for me. I’ve been a part of the Race franchise from its inception. But this time there was Salman Khan on board. That made all the difference in the world. I’ve worked with Salman in the past as an actor, but not as a producer. Salman and (co-producer) Ramesh Taurani are fantastic to work with. The way Salman looked out for everybody in Race 3, be it Bobby Deol, Saqib Salim, Jacqueline Fernandez, Daisy Shah or me, made the whole experience so much fun.”
So does Anil have a substantial role in Race 3? “I’ve moved on. It’s done. I never dwell on what’s done. I’ve four releases coming up . Every release is like the first for me. Every day is a new challenge for me. I feel I am just starting out in life.” Does he starve himself to look so fit? “These are myths about my diet. I eat well. In fact I’ve just had a lavish lunch before speaking to you. The idea is to burn the calories, which I am doing these days by spinning. My exercise regimen varies according to my mood. Sometimes it’s swimming, sometimes cycling, sometimes running or walking. Right now it’s spinning.”
We end with Anil’s niece Janhvi’s debut as an actress in Dhadak. “We are all very excited. I was there for her at the trailer launch. The film looks good. Janhvi has the genes. And the boy(Ishaan Khattar) is also very confident. She already has a hit song in the film. It all looks good. Fingers crossed.”
