Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden Evacuate The Eternals Set After Bomb Threat
Angelina Jolie and Richard Madden who are currently shooting Marvel's The Eternals had to leave the set after an unidentified bomb was found on the premises
Ever since Marvel Studios announced the set of films that they'd be releasing in the next few years, fans have been eagerly waiting to see what these new stories will bring. The cast of the film had also been unveiled a few months ago, introducing some of the fans most favourite actors and actresses playing the most important roles. Likewise, it was announced that superstar Angelina Jolie would finally be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and starring in the much-anticipated film, The Eternals. Jolie along with co-star Richard Madden of Game of Thrones fame have already started filming, however, according to a latest reports, the stars had to evacuate the film set.
Jolie and Madden were filming in Fuerteventura, Canary Islands when they - along with the rest of the cast and crew - were asked to leave the premises when it was found out that there was a bomb on site. Filming was stopped as the professionals were brought in to deal with the situation while the production team was taken to safety. The experts were able to quickly removed the bomb and filming was soon resumed. A source close to the team told The Sun, "It was obviously terrifying — the bomb could have been there for decades untouched but who knows what might have happened if it was disturbed." As of now, the authorities are still not sure where the bomb came from or how long it had been there for.
The Eternals is based on super-powered near-immortal beings who were created in a series of genetic experiments on early humans by cosmic gods, Celestials. Madden will star as Ikaris while Jolie plays Thena. Apart from Jolie and Madden, the cast also includes Salma Hayek, Brian Tyree Henry, Kumail Nanjiani and Kit Harington, who were not present on the set at the time of the incident. The film is one of the most-awaited releases from Marvel Studios and is set to hit screens on November 6, 2020.
